Local hero Paul Banks opens B at the ForumNew discount store opens in shopping centre12:12, 29 OCT 2014Updated12:20, 29 OCT 2014Local Hero Paul Banks with the Sheriff of Chester and Lawrence Allen at the opening of B Bargains in the Forum Shopping Centre, Chester Sheriff of Chester councillor Herbert Manley and ‘Local Hero’ Paul Banks jointly cut a ribbon to mark the official opening of the city’s new 10,000 square foot B Bargains store at the city’s Forum Shopping Centre.Store manager Amanda Sullivan joined her staff in cheering when Cllr Manley declared the store open for business watched by B regional manager Colin Rookliffe, Forum Shopping centre manager Lawrence Allen and passing shoppers.Mr Banks, who was chosen as the event’s ‘Local Hero’ in recognition of his 566 mile sponsored charity trek from France to Spain via the Pyrenees Mountain range which raised more than for dementia charities, said he was delighted to have been invited to attend the opening.The 55 year old estates manager from Bache in Chester said he wished the new store a bright future in Chester’s Forum Shopping Centre.Forum Shopping centre manager Lawrence Allen said he was very pleased to be able to welcome the new B Bargains store to a shopping centre that was attracting a growing list of new retail names to its Northgate Street site.”Today’s opening is good news for B great news for the Forum but most importantly it is wonderful news for our shoppers because it significantly boosts their level of choice within the centre. For many of our regular customers, the Forum has long been their number one destination for value for money shopping and the arrival of B Bargains makes the Forum an even more attractive location.”Mr Allen said B was the latest of a string of new arrivals in the centre which include Pound World and Shoe Zone. They complemented a wide range of long standing outlets including Boots the Chemist, McDonalds and Blackstocks fish and chips.
