Blog > Tiny crocheted hearts by Carolyne

15 January 2013

With Christmas crafting over, what is a crafter to do? Craft for Valentine's day, of course :) I have to say that hearts never go out of fashion, they are as acceptable in the winter as they are in the summer, unlike snowmen or Rudolf.

This pattern is so quick and easy and is a great way to use up scraps of yarn. You could make them into a mini garland or use as gift tags. I made these for a larger project which I will share with you this week, but I do think that they're cute enough to stand on their own in a post for now :)

As before, I use US crochet terminology. You can convert the pattern into UK crochet using the table here

I used 4 ply cotton and a 3.5mm hook for this tutorial. But I have also made them with thicker yarn and larger hooks. Play around and see what works for you.

Make a magic circle

Ch 3

Into the circle crochet 5 dc, 1 tr, 5 dc

3ch and sl st into circle.

It doesn't look like a heart does it? It's like magic, just pull the circle to close the hole and ta da! You have a heart :)

Either leave the ends to tie the heart onto something, or tie them off and sew in the ends.
