Geisel wrote from experience. After a successful career in advertising, his first book, “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street,” was famously rejected multiple times. Some projects in print and on screen simply never took off. If you’re looking for an elegant gift (or a rest from the chaos on the street), a good place to stop is Kam Man Food Products at 200 Canal St., near Mott Street. The store is primarily a supermarket, so don’t let the hundreds of jars filled with things you’ve never seen before put you off. Make your way downstairs and you’ll find a cornucopia of beautiful and wonderfully inexpensive Asian style plates, cups, teapots, cookware, and other goodies.
With these features, one would expect significant savings in energy bills. But how much? One problem is that I have no home with which to compare the energy consumption. Furthermore, there is great variation in energy use between different families living in the same house in the same climate zone.
I guess you could say, if I wasn so old, I would have lost more than the 7 pounds, but to be honest with you, I figure at my age, 76 this March, I am lucky to even be alive to lose anything!! So, I approach each day as a gift and just do my best!Well, folks, the rest is just getting through this gray time of year and knowing that better and a lot sunnier days are on their way. I know this is a great time to make strides in housework, but that is just not my bag. So, January will soon be behind me again for this year, and as long as my Lord is on my side, who can be against me? Yes, I can honestly say, Pat Ain Done Yet!!Happy New Year, everyone.Isn it great to wake up with a whole, brand new, empty new year ahead of you? It like starting all over again, with a fresh slate, able to do and be anything you choose in the year ahead.
There a row of cherry blossoms lining the tracks and street just west of Higashi Nakano Station that JR sent out a notice that they will be trimming or removing. As a result the local community put up a number of notices along the fence lining the cherry blossoms about a counter movement to the plan and actually showed up in some force to protest the work on the first official day. It seems it was effective (or at least temporarily) as the following day we got a notice in the mail that the work has been suspended.
Chinatown is a mini Asian melting pot, attracting immigrants from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam and other countries. Keep an eye out for the large Taiwanese flag flying at 62 Mott St. Over the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, an umbrella group for the many family and village associations that dot the neighborhood..
